Christmas Eve (in a nuclear winter)

Oh What tale do you want to hear If a story i have to tell, oh god, Of the year the species went to hell On a Christmas eve in a nuclear winter It’s that time, of year again Sleigh bells ring, and on the stroke of midnight Light shines brighter in the dark And hold me tight its getting cold Gather round, and stoke the fire, Carols sing, to keep the cheer alive Even dear old Santa Clause couldn’t stop them dropping bombs Well the snow dried up, and the trees all died With a human ash, lying on the ground On the surface of a planet with a molten core On a Christmas eve in a nuclear winter The sound of footsteps on roof Hearing someone climbing down the chimney Rob us blind of all our food leave a gift under the tree angels come to take the dying And the sirens sing their sweet noël Time to turn off all the lights Some day they’ll sing for you as well. With the turkeys gone, and the fields turned white Like a sci-fi vision of a refugee In a corner of a bunker on a planet gone M.A.D. On a Christmas eve in a nuclear winter Merry Christmas, Duck and cover Happy new year everyone Merry Christmas, Duck and cover Happy new Year One, and all No more holly, no more Ivy Nor an army offering salvation No babe wrapped up in a manger Under stars we’ll never see In an age of mass extinction In the belly of a beast of our own creation In these desperate times of need Raise a toast and sing with me Well there’s not much left, but I’ll share what I have It’s the joy of giving this time of the year I will wish you the merriest day of your life On a Christmas eve in a nuclear winter.
